What do you like about working at Blockbuster?

"Interaction with people. I also love movies and entertainment."

What don't you like about working at Blockbuster?

"Pressure put on managers and team to sell additional programs like Movie Pass. Threats to fire people if they don't sell these programs. Most people don't like high-pressure sales. I saw a manager absolutely badger a woman about enrolling in the Movie Pass rental program. He would NOT take no for an answer. That is not what people respond to. The holiday hours were Draconian. It will not hurt a company to reduce hours at the holidays, and people would probably respect them for it. At least spread it out so that people can spend a little time with their families."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Treat your team members well and they will be more motivated. Try to give periodic incentive to sell your programs. Simply having a job is not enough. They can find a minimum wage job anytime."

What do you like about working at Blockbuster?

"Very open to help balancing work and home life. The benefits were very good."

What don't you like about working at Blockbuster?

"Pay."

"Come up with programs that will be comparable to other video stores."

"I enjoyed the opportunities for growth. The training and development at Blockbuster was all encompassing. I enjoyed working with people and hiring and developing my own team. I enjoyed the challenge of meeting sales goals. I enjoyed being able to balance my love for people and entertainment with my love for business."

"The schedule."

"It would be great to have a job sharing opportunity for general management. OR, if a store is performing well, let the general manager have nights and weekends off."

"Lack of growth."

"There was not much room for growth within the organization by store location. Most stores were franchises and were independently owned."

"It is important to work on development and preparing the employees on the expectations for customer service interactions."

"No late nights (home no later than 10), 45 hour work week."

"No challenges. All decisions are made by superiors (area manager and above). Easy is ok, but too easy is boring."

"Allow store managers to run their stores. Let them do what they were hired to do."

"Lack of adequate labor hours to get the basic job done, due to complex systems of their operations."

"Better customer engagement and training with their staff on friendliness and connections to the customers."
