"Innovative and ever evolving empire of asset management. Always updating technology which is a huge plus, weeds out those who can't handle Microsoft updates. Culture has dissolved a bit due to turnover and quick expansion not keeping core business models alive."

"I worked for Blackrock Microsystems for 7 years. It is an interesting company to work at not just due to the innovation technology, but also the flat management structure that allows anybody to pursue initiatives for the company that they think are important. Many people can find the amount of work overwhelming, as well as a bit chaotic, but if you thrive in that type of environment you would enjoy it."

"Company has good benefits, and there's a great amount of importance placed on work/life balance. It's very easy to network, and get to know other parts of the firm. The company often promotes giving back to our communities such as donations for tragic events, or just to charities of our choice."

"Doers should avoid BlackRock. You cannot get anything meaningful done without having to navigate red tape, attend endless meetings, and withstand political backstabbing. If you do happen to be working on something meaningful, a senior manager will take it over after 90% completed saying, "This is too important to have a junior manager leading it". You will only be promoted if you are connected to the right people. If you are not connected, your "role" (defined by BLK and HR) will be deemed inappropriate for advancement. Either you move somewhere else internally, thereby resetting your service time for promotion, or you are out of luck. You can do everything for everyone, and then watch dead-weight get promoted ahead of you."
