"Managers have a tendency to second guess all technology decisions. They are under the impression that they are more expert in technology than the technical experts that they hire. Pay is very good, but you will definitely earn it in terms of hours and aggravation. There is absolutely no loyalty to the employees and managers will sacrifice you at a moments notice if that's what it takes to make them look good. They will do anything to save a buck of initial expense without considering the overall cost of those decisions."

I work in marketing and unfortunately the Financial Industry in General is a bit behind in its abilities to compete with other industries, but internally, there is very little understanding for the need to communicate through modern marketing channels to gain more business outside of institutional targets. This can be frustrating to someone in a marketing role as it does not allow for innovation, or recognition."

"Good pay and benefits, some great people, and interesting projects from time to time."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ask about the budget. Maybe your department is lucky and can afford to put the right tools and people in the right place. Grill the people hiring on what you need to do to make the bosses look good, possible career paths, and where the company is going overall."

What don't you like about working at BlackRock?

"It's a challenge to get the proper system and tools in place with the budget and time constraints. It's unrealistic for a quality job to be done quickly, let alone cheaply. For an organization that is the largest asset manager in the world, it sometimes seems as if our budget is peanuts. There seems to be more of a focus on saving costs than putting the right people and the right equipment in the right place."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Focus more on retaining talent, training, and giving the right tools and systems to employees. Focus less on mergers and acquisitions, extreme savings, and get rid of useless/toxic employees."

"be competitive, work your ass off, be ambitious, be prepared to lead"

What don't you like about working at BlackRock?

"promotion, rigid corporate structure, politics, changing structure, job insecurity, low salary"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"reduce operational staff, fire non essential staff, more business people, more business support, give power to business people to use operations people"

What do you like about working at BlackRock?

"Salary, although that is stagnating. The San Francisco office looks nice."

"Negotiate your title and pay up front. I have actively heard hiring managers say they want to get someone cheaper than they are worth."

What don't you like about working at BlackRock?

"People are simply motivated by advancing their title. The politics around this are simply awful. The reason for this rat race is because once you have reached the pay level and title of Managing Director, you can rest on your title and do no useful work. Additionally, communication at BlackRock is poor with too many meetings and an inbox deluged with blanket emails."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I think our CEO has forgotten the third leg of the stakeholder stool: Shareholders, customers, AND employees. I would take Henry Ford's tact and share more of the company profits with employees, rather than cutting pay and then paying myself megamillions annually. Using te state of the financial industry as an excuse is deplorable when you extract millions in profits for your own coffers."

"interviews are very basic in GGN location, be through with basics"

What don't you like about working at BlackRock?

"Local company infrastructure is not that good which demotivates people."

"more investment needed in infrastructure in GGN otherwise people will get demotivated and will fail at work"

"It is a Win7 Large scale migration contract started Jan. 2012 to present"

"This is a contract job I am managing and there is no IT project management opening"

"No Full time opportunity for project management and growth. client is set on old ways of doing things."

"Be more open to new ideas on how to efficiently do processes"
