Bally Technologies Careers & Info

Current CEO: Richard Haddrill

Stauts: Active

The history of Bally Technologies, Inc. began in the early 1930s in Chicago. The company’s earliest incarnation was involved in manufacturing pinball game machines. Since 1968, this company has existed as a slot machine manufacturer operating from Las Vegas. The original name of the company was Advanced Patent Technologies. The name changed from Alliance Gaming Corporation before it became Bally Manufacturing. Finally, in 2006, the name was settled as Bally Technologies Inc. and has operated under that appellation ever since. It is listed on the New York Stock Exchange as BYI.

The gaming industry has been changing with the advances in technologies. Popular slot machines that occupy almost every casino are a direct product of this company''s application of current technology. Periodic changes in governmental regulations of both casinos and corporations have created an overall business environment that is constantly forced to adapt to new conditions. The company’s ability to maintain its operations throughout these changes has created the impression that job security is a part of the employment deal. Unfortunately, there are considerable financial advantages for the company to outsource highly skilled jobs to countries where labor rates are lower. This has created a material incentive for the company to relocate many of these opportunities to other countries.

Even though these changes have hindered employment prospects for some, there are still many opportunities to find work with this company. Bally Technologies careers often attract people who appreciate the casino environment and frequent late-shift and weekend work hours. The general work environment appeals to certain temperaments, and these employees tend to experience a higher feeling of satisfaction on the job. In addition, Bally Technologies benefits are particularly generous when it comes to health care.

Because working at Bally Technologies might involve working with a management system that is not informed by the technical aspect of the work, it is possible to run into some differences in opinions. For example, developers and engineers may have a more task-oriented view of a project, while the management is more likely to make decisions about a technical project based on the financial statements. The Bally Technologies culture is not favorable to career-building employees in many departments, as turnovers and outsourcing are endemic in this company. Management tends to fare better than workers in general.
