"My favorite part is creative problem solving. Whether it's simplifying a time consuming business task for employees, creating a framework for enforcing business rules at high-level, or a resolving a complex technical problem; I like to find solutions. My least favorite is the maintenance phase, as it is provides opportunities for problem-solving, but seldom of a creative nature. I dislike working where IT is viewed as an expense to the company rather than an competitive advantage."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Learn the importance of running a production company isn't located in the management, it's located in the production staff. We went from 300 personnel to 20 within 3 years, because they lost track of what makes a production company produce. My suggestion is to re-evaluate the management that is sinking the company, find people who are driving to rebuild a success. There are management people out there, who are specifically talented at such a task."

Application Developer at Cardinal Health

What do you like about working at Cardinal Health?

"I was laid off, but there are some fine and very talented people working there. Unfortunately, they can't really get anything done."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't. If you get hired there, you will be way too overwhelmed by the fact that there is no guidance from management. You also cannot get help from your peers. All of your peers will be too consumed trying to figure out what exactly it is they are supposed to be doing to accomplish goals and you'll be lost in a sea of online training materials that have zero to do with your job. I was there for 6 years and still found myself trying to understand why it was that doing actual work towards the focus of one's group or the company was roundly ignored in favor of minutiae and fire drills and so-called emergencies. Stay away!"

What don't you like about working at Cardinal Health?

"There was a serious disconnect between upper management and reality."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Join the real world. Become the modern technology company that it is possible of being. Stop running the company like one giant Chinese fire drill. Stop pinching pennies."
