"I have worked for Virginia Tech for the past 2 years. I worked for the Center for Vehicle Systems and Safety (CVeSS). I have been able to use my knowledge, develop new technical abilities and provide solutions to industrial problems."
"I have been working here since December and it has been everything I wanted."
"Very interesting and educational work experience, with a very intelligent boss."
"I've worked at Virginia Tech for only 4 years but it has been without doubt my favorite job. The environment and colleagues are amazing and the freedom to do my job in the best way is wonderful. It falls victim to the low wages of state jobs however."
"It's a great place to do research."
"I started working at VT in 2012 in Enterprise Systems. They biggest issue I have is that because of educations audits, they take 'separation of duties' to the extreme. This makes it so that a lot of employees spend a lot of time waiting on someone else to fix their systems (specifically server of DB problems). It is frustrating to say the least. The people are nice though and I enjoy interfacing with people on campus. Pay isn't great."
"Worked for a semester. Enjoyed it."
"Virginia Tech has a lot of desirability in name and, sadly, in name alone. Working for various sections of the Virginia Tech organization is underwhelming, poorly managed, and they don't, as they claim, offer competitive salaries. They treat their employees as expendable, useless resources, and they follow by making it clear that they do not have any sympathy. And this is from someone who voluntarily left them on good terms, I was not fired, I was not laid off."
"I've worked as an instructor since Jan. 2011 in the Engineering Education department. This has been a fantastic experience especially given that I am also a PhD student."
"I've worked for Virginia Tech since I have been enrolled as a graduate student here. I learnt how to communicate efficiently with my lab mate and supervisor, to finish a project by myself or with cooperation with others. Moreover, I think I have been equipped with knowledge from graduate school and get ready for my first job."
"Its a great academic setting with a lot of potential for research with state of art tools."
"Virginia Tech is one of the best engineering school in U.S."
"I have been a graduate teaching assistant for 1 year. Our department has a very nice academic environment. Professors are very responsible and students are hardworking. I also get a lot practical experience in LISA dealing with the statistical problems in all kinds of research, which is really helpful for my career."
"Used Articulate Storyline software to develop employment-training program, Developed annual management test in customer service, sanitation, and safety, and assisted in food waste reduction and diversion project. These are the skills that I have learned from the company and I was very good at every task. My relationship between co-workers were very close and able to perform well."
"I love it. it's fantastic to stay and work. My adviser is really good."
