"I have been with the Postal Service since 1991 and worked at many sites in different states. The chance to improve yourself is very poor and the Postal Service in general is not ran very well."
"Great place to work."
"The company is growing but limited at machines. Although a government agency, it lacks of advanced equipment."
"This job is very difficult and heavy. They give you a map, the mail and tell you what time they want it done by. It's extremely stressful with customers and coworkers. The new people are put through the wringer. I love the company, but there is a reason that they have not been able to keep any new carriers in five years."
"I've worked at USPS for over 5 years, and it's very different from any company I worked for in the past."
"Ok place but no room for improvement, management are bullies and like to argue."
"There was very limited room to grow."
"The main reason why someone would become a mail carrier: it pays well. The base pay is not all that exciting; you make all your money by working constantly. I often work 6 days/wk, often and 10 hrs/day. In the past 2 months, I have made over $9K (seriously). The cons are plenty: long hrs/days, having little work-life balance, stress, and inclement weather to deal with. If you can learn to roll with the punches and suck it up, the paychecks sure make it worthwhile."
"Great job for college students during winter break."
"It was ok, expectations to be faster then senior employees."
"I returned to the post office after leaving Northwestern Mutual. I had previously worked there and enjoyed my job. The post office however was going through a restructuring due to financial conditions."
"I have worked for USPS since 2006, and they have been going through a lot of changes, so a lot of cutbacks have been made. and a lot of new rules brought to the table that has its up and downs about the job at hand. But overall it was a pleasure working with great people and a good learning experience."
"I have worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. I have been a Sr. Level Manager for the last 13 years. I would recommend this job for a veteran."
"Worked for USPS for a little over a year. It was a good job, but there was no room to move up or get hired on permanently."
