Tool and Die Maker at Lockheed Martin

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"My overall experience has been good."

What do you like about working at Lockheed Martin?

"I love this company. It has management that cares about the people that work here and they let you do your job without looking over your shoulder constantly."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"They are easy to interview with. Be 100% truthful when you answer questions because many positions here require security clearances and background checks and if you lie, they will find out and that will be the end for you here. They will not hit you up with trick questions and stupid crap. They just want to get a feel for who you are and where you will best fit in. Oh, and if you hated your last job as much as I did, don't tell them that. Just say I am looking for better opportunities or a different direction."

What don't you like about working at Lockheed Martin?

"Sometimes the schedules can be hectic and they might force overtime with little notice, which can be disruptive to your personal life, BUT they do not do it very often. A few times a year at most, so it is not too bad and if you really have a legit reason for not working it, the managers are flexible. A far cry from my last gig at Raytheon."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"More employee-union-management get togethers on improving efficiency and safety at work."

Tool and Die Maker at Raytheon
in Wichita, KS

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"My experience with this company was horrible. Worst I ever worked for."

What do you like about working at Raytheon?

"I loved my co workers. Everyone of them was first rate and you could trust they would never throw you under the bus if things went bad on a project or order."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are that hard up for a job and just cannot bear the thought of leaving your beloved Wichita, go for it. But don't count on working there long. Unless you have 20+ years, you can pretty much count on being layed off more than working. If you are willing to move, Lockheed Martin is far better to work for and we are very well treated here."

What don't you like about working at Raytheon?

"I did not like the management or the politics of this company. Management constantly bullied some employees and favored others. They constantly demanded wage and salary concessions from employees after they took over a great company (Beech Aircraft) and ran it into the ground. Employees are treated like dirt and morale there is as bad as it can be. No job security and layoffs with little or no notice are the norm. Add to that the place is in Wichita Kansas which is about the worst place on the planet to live unless you like being indoors all year because the winters are freezing cold and windy and the summers are hotter than the desert southwest with temps over 100 most days. Glad to be out of that place in Georgia at Lockheed Martin now."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"My only suggestion for the management of this company would be RESIGN."
