A couple of things I love about project management are: every day is a new challenge, a new chance at problem solving, looking out for up-coming road blocks, and removing impediments so the team can keep moving; Another thing I love is working with multiple teams and lots of different people. "I love delivering on the goals of the project. As a system analyst I delivery Functional Design documents and work with the developers to deliver a Technical Design document. And as a Technical Project Manager I get to work with SAs, Developers, and other teams and senior management to lead the project to a successfull conclusion.What I don't like is when a project is moving along well, then gets cancelled. It happens. I'm glad though that then I can move onto a new project."

What do you like about working at Rockwell Collins?
"The work is exciting. I am working on cutting edge products. I always have the ability to see my product through from concept to installation. We even have troops come to visit and tell us how well our product works."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Look and speak professionally. Graduate from a well known engineering school."
What don't you like about working at Rockwell Collins?
"Not a friendly place to work. If you fail you will be fired. Upper management is disconnected from designers. Often the management team makes a decision which conflicts with the engineering team, but the team is responsible for meeting management decisions. Then we spend months trying to figure out why we failed."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Better communication is needed. The entire team must understand and buy-in to the project to be successful."

"It is a nice place to work and they are very professional."

"As it varies from group to group, I cannot quote it in general."

"Nothing from my side to quote as all the groups within the company have their own style of management."

"I like the freedom of being able to do my job without being micromanaged."

"You must have the ability to learn fast and like hard work, while maintaining a positive attitude."

"I dislike the lack of tested processes prior to implementation to the customer."

"Implement processes and test them before moving forward. This will help with customer satisfaction when implementing IT initiatives."
