"Ever since high school I remember thinking that accounting--especially tax, must be the most crushingly dull career on the planet. Boy was I wrong--International Tax has some incredibly interesting puzzles to throw at both your left and right brain. Not only are you dealing with huge and interesting financial matters, but are required to analyze associated business strategies, legal tactics, and just jaw-droppingly complex corporate structures. Awesome career!"

Tax Accountant at McCain Foods
in Lisle, IL

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Horrible experience. I learned a lot of what not to look for in an employer."

What do you like about working at McCain Foods?

"Not much. Pay was bad...job was bad....management bad. Bad place to work"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"I would not interview at mccain foods. Your job is never secure"

What don't you like about working at McCain Foods?

"There is limited mobility for employees. Management has their own agenda and will and do throw employees under the bus to cover themselves. Pay was way below industry average. Company cared about the Canadian company, but did nothing for the US branch. Managers are set in their ways and don't like changes that can help. Absolutely no job security. Lots of employee turnover."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Start promoting from within! Treat employees like people. Try promoting collaboration. Treat people wirh some degree of respect"

Tax Accountant at Clark Construction Group
in Bethesda, MD

What do you like about working at Clark Construction Group?

"The people that I work with are the best part about the company."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you're an engineer the growth opportunities are good, but if you're not then you should be fine with staying at the same position with the same pay for around 7-15 years. Otherwise, you will be miserable here."

What don't you like about working at Clark Construction Group?

"Management is too concerned about the bottom line and not concerned with hiring, retaining, and rewarding the employees. This could have a better impact on the bottom line in the end because it leads to people who are efficient and benefit the company. Upper management is also very resistant to change and is extremely conservative and stiff. Loosening up a little bit would go along way in lowering the turnover in the departments."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would pay more attention to what is going on and what keeps employees happy and motivated. Also, I would encourage new ideas instead of immediately saying no to any innovation that seems that it would take time to implement even though the results may greatly improve or benefit the company overall."
