"The travel time went from 25% to 90%, this was too much for my personal life."

"It had good management back then, at least in the technical departments where I worked."
What don't you like about working at NEC?
"Can't say anything wrong, I really liked it. If it is to criticize something, I'd say too competitive between divisions. I think it is a good practice to rather encourage the divisions to cooperate than compete. Too much cannibalism and politics from the sales and marketing area are not good. They are losing heavily most of their technical workforce."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Demolish the marketing, rebuild the product management, bring in new people with a strong technical background and committed to the company."

"Home based and some travel and strong support system among peers, plus they emphasized training for many years."
What don't you like about working at Nortel?
"Travel at times exceeded 60% and became tiring."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Company is still struggling from past CEO mistakes. Very sad for employees who are still working. NORTEL continues to struggle when trying to make a successful company. They have a good product but things at the top of the organization are shakey these days."

"Too stressful, political nightmare, management disastor, too cooporate without resources to fulfill process requirements, security policies prevent productive environment"

"build the staff and resources to meet business needs / volume of projects to be done. Stop the political feuds and semi-annual restructuring."
