"Synacor was a good company that needs to have some leadership changes to make them efficient. The company product lines and desire are very much on point, however, there are issues that need to be addressed at the top in order to gain customers and retain the current customer base."
"I worked at Synacor from 2013 till 2019. I really enjoyed working with my coworkers and my managers. The company is way too top heavy with multiple directors and VPs and short staffed with people on the ground. Lots of layoffs, minimal raises to barely cover inflation and lots of aimless projects that either get stalled, or outright dropped. The company doesn't know what it wants to be, and filing an IPO was a big mistake."
"I have worked for Synacor for the past two and a half years in two different positions. It is a great company to work for, though it has been rough as of late as we transition away from a start-up mentality. The new CEO has a great vision and will help make this company great for years to come."
"I worked at Synacor for about a year. They had a friendly atmosphere, regular technical training, decent salary, and lots of free food. There are constant changes happening there and for the short duration, I've seen many such as 2 complete conference room name changes, the CEO resigning and a new one coming aboard. They have been going through some recent financial troubles and have had to make a lot of changes to the company structure."
"Some of the problems that I complained about in my exit have been resolved."
"Was a great place to work until I was suddenly (and unexpectedly) laid off. Very family friendly and challenging. They could have handled the layoff a little better though."
"As an intern turned contractor I think the company does want to keep talent around but does not always pay top tier for the jobs they are placing people in. The work atmosphere is a plus."
"I enjoyed the people and the overall atmosphere but at the time the company was, and still is, going through some growing pains. I was an intern and they offered me little direction. I understand that it is good to see how an employee, especially a developer, can perform on their own, but as an intern I feel like I had too much freedom. A little supervision and direction would have gone a long way because I was never given a real goal to strive for and I think I came up short of my potential."
"I've worked at Synacor in a few departments. The culture, work atmosphere, co-workers are all great.Project Management needs a BIG improvement. Many projects are thrown together and everything is an I-need-this-now type of project. Better planning and involving the right people at the right time would do you well. Fix it."
"The company is very good with its employees. I had a great time working there and there is definitely a positive vibe among the employees."
