"DOCSIS testing background will help immesurably. A background in consumer electronic device testing or development will also help."

"Upper management was conducting a war with the Sony headquarters over autonomy. This inteferred with internal company communication and diluted their management support for product development."

"Accept headquarter's viewpoint and stick to your important duties. Don't let the server lead fool you as to the quality of the server software. Be sure your subordinates are actually following your lead."

"there were quite a few cool people there."

"doesn't matter. If you get in, you'll get paid 1/3 what you're worth and you'll be stuck there for a long time. It's a good stepping stone, though, so it may be worth the pain."

"there were a lot of bad managers and people willing to destroy everything in their path for a chance to move up."

"focus on creating a good product, not metrics. For the execs... give your people some credit, they're the ones keeping you in business. Reward them for it once in a while!"
