"I enjoyed working with my employees and peer managers, they were a very talented group of individuals. Departments exhibited a lot of teamwork and helped the department reach all of its goals."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Still a lot of innovative work but work environment has cheapened the respect for the individual."
What don't you like about working at IBM?
"The first 25 years were the best; the last 9 were less than great! The employee to mgr. ratios became too large, made it difficult to spend enough time with each employee. Started out at around 10 to 1, then evolved into a 50 to 1 ratio. Outsourcing became too important to the bottom line."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Need a better system to allow time to work with employees and regain their confidence that managers know what they need to develop and grow."

"My job with IBM is one of the best I had I'm my 20+ year career, but as indicated above, has some glitches."

"The people I worked with at my level and just above were extremely competent, good/fun to work with, and made the job a pleasant experience."

"Act and be confident. If hired, you will have a good experience."

"Job security/offshore outsourcing."

"Settle into a working model for outstanding service and delivery. Quit changing your model so frequently. For all levels of management, focus on competence in getting the job done, and less on politics. How a manager interacts with his/her team and customer should be more important than how he/she interacts with their hierarchy."
