"Not real consulting, staff augmentation, so you can get stuck in a project that doesn't give you career progress"

"Find ways to manage staff augmentation and real consulting work"

"Cisco (India) is a great place to work. I am moving because of my aspiration to come to the US."

"It's a tough selection process; hence, prepare well on the core area."
What don't you like about working at Cisco Systems?
"Growth options need to be better for the technical employees."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Currently, employees are facing a little bit of resistance in moving between countries."

"Diversity. I supported or worked in 8 different industries including Aerospace, Defense, Telecommunications, Process Automation, IT, Finance, and Consulting"

"Read What Color is Your Parachute and go after the job with sincerety."
What don't you like about working at Kasse Initiatives?
"I traveled 11 months per year and lived in hotels over 200 days per year for 20 years. I liked what I did. I do not have the desire to travel to that extent anymore."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I am the CEO and company owner. My suggestion would be to seek at least one large client, 6-10 medium sized companies and a few small comanies to pay the light bill"
What do you like about working at Netxten?
"The freedom to choose th projects I want and to set my own schedule."

"Netxten is currently not accepting new employees. No advice at this time."
What don't you like about working at Netxten?
"The uncertainty of not knowing when the next contract is going to come."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"This would be for myself...Well, try to be a better sales person and get more contracts."
What do you like about working at Alcatel-Lucent?
"Lucent Technologies was a company with real soul and innovation. It was an exciting place to be at the time."

"The company no longer exists and my comments for interviewing with Alcatel-Lucent are more relevant."
What don't you like about working at Alcatel-Lucent?
"There was nothing bad about Lucent Technologies. Management were highly supportive of innovation and growing the business was easy."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"You shouldn't have merged with Alcatel... but I understand it was inevitable."
What do you like about working at Invensys?
"Independence - I'm supported when need be and can do my own thing when I don't need support."

"If you're independently motivated and can operate on your own, it is a great balance between being a fully independent consultant and an employee at one of our clients."

"The challenge with consulting is that it is possible to get stuck at the same client and stagnate rather than get new and exciting challenges"

"I'm quite happy with how my group is being managed, however I would love to see more cross-functional training and collaboration."

"I like the prestige of the Oracle name and the training and bonuses."

"Have a clearance, don't expect exceptional money, know their products, at least cursorily."
What don't you like about working at Oracle?
"Being a contractor, in a field that changes at an alarming rate, trying to keep up with all the new technologies and products is overwhelming. Yet my group in the company makes its money by billable hours from the contract I support, so they want me to spend all of my full-time billing to the customer, but expect me to also do tasks for my company and stay knowledgeable in my field, which seriously is like having another entire full-time job on the side that I am not getting paid to do."

"Use of new technologies and languages. Normal work days with good work-life balance."

"Be honest, open-minded and sharp. Value your family & personal time."

"You have to work. There's not a lot of certainty about the next gig."

"Only go after greenfield projects that embrace use of new languages if appropriate."

"There is nothing I dislike about the company. I like the compny's culture and management."

"I like the flexibility of schedule and types of projects I was introduced to, anywhere from generating funding and capital for a NFPO to developing and selling clothing lines."

"My tips would be to make sure that their reasons for wanting to develop new business were authentic and not strictly for compensation."

"I was not a fan of the instability of the market. Most times the entrepreneurs started the project but would run out of money and be unable to finish"

"To vet investors and entrepreneurs who already had an established base of income."

"I like the other consultants that I work with and I like meeting new clients and assisting them in developing new work processes to make their jobs easier."

"It is important to be honest and be yourself. They will give you a chance and assist you to where you need to be but you have to be honest so that they can give you back up where you might need time to ramp up your skills."

"The travel can be difficult and challenging on a personal level."

"Develop some opportunities for growth and training to keep consultants up to date on current skills needs in the market place."

"Every day was different, and there was pressure to succeed at every level. Resources were great, as well."

"Be patient. The process is lengthy. The hiring managers are looking for the right people for the job."
What don't you like about working at Verizon Enterprise Solutions?
"It was difficult to move around to other jobs in the company. Sales culture drove sales people to manage every aspect of the sale on their own. The Verizon name carried good and bad responses."

"Find better ways to assist sales in day-to-day operations."

"Access to learning new tools - you could always learn new tools."

"Currently we have very few Americans going into the IT industry--a very important question would be would Oracle pay for additional college training like MBA's PHD's or do they prefer to use guest visas-with these types of degrees."
What don't you like about working at Oracle?
"All training was done on line. No classroom training."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I would suggest that company invest more in the America work instead of the guest visa work. Specially now when there are so many Americans who are willing to retool to get back into the job force."
