"I love the fact that the company allowed colleagues to learn a different industry while working on projects from different sectors. This allows the colleagues to become more diverse and marketable when he/she decides to move forward with their careers. What I hated about the position was how the clients would look down on the colleagues like they worked for them. Granted, colleagues on assignments would work at the client site but they did not work from the client. They were there as consultants not employees of the company. Sometimes, clients would go to the extreme left because they thought that the consultant was assigned to the project which in turn makes it seems as if it was a manager/employee relationship which was certainly not the case. Some projects, the client would treat us and talk to us like we were not professional and didn't realize why we were there in the first place."
"Got a chance to work in various projects, data conversion, upgrades implementation."
"I love working with clients to identify and implement solutions."
"Reward is always a matter of how much sweat you are willing to put into your work. A consortium is a free structure, there are lots of upsides but also a lot of seasonal coming and going. When you work at Got SOA?, you are in charge, which also means that you have to do everything, including some accounting chores and writing your invoices and following up with clients beyond the call of duty. It's empowering."
"Being a lead to sales and project delivery. Usually, all the escalations stop at my door before moving into the management. I usually get invitations from senior management as to the strategic directions of the company, what products/services the company should sell."
"Being enabled to exceed set business expectations and personal goals is paramount. Sales and technical resources really strive to manage and reach expectations to meet deadlines and to put customers first despite being at a disadvantage due to amateur corporate management and being over-extended."
"Love the dynamic nature of the technical / management consultants role."
"It is challenging to run a highly profitable business while prospecting and closing enough deals to make it lucrative."
"I love what I do, or I would have changed careers at some point during the last 20 or so years. Technology is a passion of mine, and it has proven to also be profitable. I don't see myself changing careers any time soon."
"I like the key decision making and client Interactions."
"Providing Subject Matter expertise based on my knowledge, skills, and abilities to solve a number of complex decisions was the best part of the job. A challenging aspect is learning to become an educator to facilitate change within the program office that ultimately greatly benefits the customer."
"Project scoping and planning is critical in developing a framework for success. Often times account managers will undersell engagements which can make meeting and or exceeding client/customer satisfaction and budgeting requirements quite challenging."
"Being a small business owner is not always what it is cracked up to be. It's hard and extraordinarily time consuming. Thus, I'm always on the lookout for that special company to put my many skills and services to work for."
