"As a petty officer second class, I enjoy the position in that I have some authority but not all the responsibility, I am eligible in September to move up and feel ready for it. One thing that I have kept from advancements and from one of my supervisors that I believe every person, no matter what authority, rank, military or civilian should have is treat everyone as a human being, I feel that I do that for everyone I work with."

"The ability to serve my country."

"Make sure you get everything in writing. Recruiters lie and most have no experience. They are in a desk job for a reason."
What don't you like about working at United States Navy?
"Hours, pay, lack of quality leadership, new military budget cuts."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"It's time to care more about your sailors than achieving rank as an officer."

"Navy was a new start for me after I got out of high school. Over years, Navy changed."

"Doing something I love, the responsibility the job gave me."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"If you can find someone in the military already ask them to bring you on their ship or wherever they work so you can have a little experience before you join and you hate it because you have 4+ years to wait it out if that's how you feel about it. If the experience is good then you are more than likely to stay in for 20 or you will have a good career if you only decide to stay in for 4."

"Favortism, racism, like high school all over again but worse."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Trustworthy, respectful, good character, fun, happy, challenging and being helpful."

"The long periods of time spent away from my family."

"The communication from the higher supervisors could be better. Overall still a great place to work."

"Work on communicating to the lower ranking personnel and supervisors."
