Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Paychex has a great training program with some solid systems in place. The CEO and upper level management are trustworthy and forward-focused, and they communicate very well. The sales jobs can be demanding, and you have to take care of yourself to avoid burnout. They expect a lot, and if you succeed here you will make a lot of money and be happy. However, if it is not the right fit, you will be exhausted and disillusioned."

What don't you like about working at Paychex?

"My direct manager is not a good fit for the position. I have had three sales managers in two years. The volume of work that we are expected to produce is very high compared to the rest of the industry."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would implement 360 degree reviews for all employees who supervise staff. I would pay residual commissions to my insurance sales staff."

"Be prepared to highlight your closing skills. Focus on hunter mentality to selling."

"Customer service model needs to be improved. Need a dedicated CSR for each client rather than support by committee."

"Focus more on growing new business rather than growing current client base."

"Be honest, and wear a tie. Make sure you advertise what you are good at."

"Sometimes the place is so big that it's hard to get through the beaurocracy."

"Offer more full time job opportunites for co-ops. Currently, to apply, it requires too many steps."

"Flexible schedule as a sales rep. As long as you get the job done and hit quota, you can make your day whatever you want."

"you must take a math test so make sure you study basic math... multiplication of fractions, division of numbers with decimals, etc"

"clients are treated horribly. Hard to sell products with bad service."

"Fire the bad people and hire good people. Or make operations partners paid on merit based so that they have incentive to work harder and treat our clients with good customer service"

"Dress is business casual. Don't expect too much. You will meet at least one manager."

What don't you like about working at Paychex?

"The VPs get millions of dollars in stock gifts that they sell the same day. Yet the employees (who are the company and you should put your money into what makes the company) make less money than the people at Jiffy Lube and have to wait for 5 years for the 100 shares of stock options at a high purchase cost to become vested. If you don't supervise someone, you barely make a living regardless of skill, experience or work performed."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Share the wealth. Stock gifts should be spread equally. If you (The VPs and Directors) get X shares as gifts, EVERYONE gets X shares. They did the work. You just sit there and go go what happened today with this or that project"

"The company is always providing the tools and training to do the job."

"For an Hr position, go in knowing the main federals laws. FLSA, Titte VII, ADA, ADEA..."

What don't you like about working at Paychex?

"In my position there is little chance for upward mobility unless you can relocate."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Difficult to say. management does an excellent job of keeping the work environment interesting."
