"I worked for Michaels for 2 weeks. I worked a total of 10 hours during those 2 weeks, including my approximate 4 hours of training. I had 2 days at the register and had to call it quits. It was so emotionally distressing that I almost passed out from panic, and spent half of my last shift in tears. A few hours into my first day on the job they had me working alone with no supervision. Even when I called for assistance at the registers, I'd be lucky if someone actually came. I don't understand how they expect us to provide good customer service when they obviously have no respect for the employees. It's obvious to even me that there are issues with scheduling. There is no reason to have an employee be alone on their first day of employment in such a fast paced area. Only take a job here if you have nerves of steel. Even my job at Macy's was less stressful than this."

"Poor management. That includes corporate. None of them seem to care, even when someone tells them about the problems. Please shop somewhere else, it is not worth it for a few dollars. Returns are a whole diff matter. Go somewhere else. The CEO is afraid of what I have to say about the managers"

"The IT organization is highly outsourced between several third party vendors and contractors. There is no empowerment within the governance team for process and project management that allowed several initiatives to go unchecked into production. Process maturity is the key to success, and this IT organization has a way to go. Company has good benefits and perks for employees. The environment is laid-back and comfortable."

"Great pay. With the pay comes working a ton of hours from about the middle of Sept-Jan. That is when you do all of your business. That entire time is blacked out for vacation."

"They pay instructors minimum wage, and require us to do mandatory open houses to promote our classes - all while they are doing absolutely NOTHING to advertise their classes. Then they blame us when enrollment is down. Seriously"

"Worked here for years. There is no opportunity at all for advancement, the people in corporate offices clearly have their heads up their asses and find no value in anyone but themselves, and the pay is a joke. You won't get a more truthful review."

"There is no true accountability in the organization. My supervisor does not support his team. The contractors in the company hold more important roles than the employees."

"My biggest gripe with this company is they change dress code what feels like monthly in an attempt to get more employees to buy work shirts. The shirts aren't pricey but if I have to wear a company shirt, I shouldn't have to use my own money for it. The raises they give are a joke. If you call their CONFIDENTIAL hotline to report an issue, they reply by telling you to talk to the DM. Management in my store was a joke. Blatant favoritism. It could be a fun job, with competent people in charge."
