"The schedule/hours, the people, the work was gratifying, it felt like you were making a difference."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"If you have a choice, go as a contractor and not as a direct employee, the managers/directors there have far too much power over their directs but not really any over the contractors."
What don't you like about working at City and County of Denver?
"The endless political games, there are too many to navigate, everyone ends up getting caught up in them. Even employees choose sides and spy on eachother's bosses for whomever they're loyal to. Check the legal records, internal lawsuits coming out their ears, code of ethics violations, sexual harrassment, scandals, it's ridiculous."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Clean house, get rid of your directors and managers who are playing games and not working and get better people, then have them clean house at the lower levels. There are far too many entry levels who come in, do nothing or do poor work and then go home and collect their salaries."

"The work environment. Both Management and facility are outdated and need of restructuring"

"Collaborative engineering, trusting of workers, flexible work hours, my project is a high priority, well funded, working with the state of the art technology."

"People skills are equally important as hard technical skills. Be firm, friendly, IT is short staffed, be patient."
What don't you like about working at Hewlett-Packard?
"Much time and money is wasted on project reporting tools that everyone fakes the info contained. The processes are overly complex. Approval processes take up to 12 people to approve before implementation."

"HP silos engineers by skill set, HP should move to multi talented teams, leverage the power of collaboration."

"The people, co-workers, most people appreciating my skills and being open to change."

"Be prepared to deal with micro-management. Make sure you are a go with the flow type of person. Initiative is stongly discouraged."

"My boss was a micro-manager. There were things I needed to do for the organization, but wasn't given the autonomy to do so."

"They need to reel in my boss. The overbearing and controlling way this person runs the department has been most detrimental to the success of the department and the morale of those within the department."

"Learn how to utilize the centralized file system I have develop for them."

"I like the good, positive culture, dedication to the company by employees, and work/life balance."

"Be familiar with the company and culture. Be ready to catch things that are thrown across the fence. Things change fast."

"I dislike the secretive culture. Information is sometimes hard to get. There is a lack of a strong process."

"Adopt a standard and stick to it. More standardization is needed across teams to achieve better efficiencies."

"Look, it was a job like a million other jobs. There were good days and bad. You are fishing for some kind of profile on the company culture and an assessement of my fit withn that culture. Anything that I write in this space is going to represent an over-simplification of reality. Move on."

"High Performance Technologies no longer exists. HPTI was purchased by DRC (Dynamics Research Corporation)."
What don't you like about working at High Performance Technologies?
"They turned out to be untrustworthy. Self-interested, cowardly amatueurs. Sickening, really."

"These questions are based on the false premise that job seakers can actually have the luxury of choosing a company culture or a pleasant manager. Get real."

"The people, very professional and always worked towards getting it right the first time."

"The culture. Too much finger pointing and not enough solutions."

"Always new and challenging projects or programs. I moved to many organizations that provided a wide area of experiences."

"They seems to hire 'experts' in an area and not generalists. They do encourage a world view because they are an international company."

"Would like to make changes faster. It takes way too long to implement needed changes. I understand the cost and the need to roll changes out in a controlled manner, but some things take too long."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Keep your most valuable people, not just numbers in an organization when you 'downsize'. Encourage and reward people who have a wide knowledge of the technologies, and use them to help drive the entire org. It seems the 'experts' in their area drive the organization, but they do not understand all the impacts on all other areas of the IT ecosystem."

"No. I just can say. If they want to work and apply for this company they made everything right."

"Too many unpaid overtime and sometimes everysbody was working on his own."

"None. The Management was definitly okay and I had a lot of fun to work for them"

"They pay pretty well and have deep resources. The office is nice."

"Realize the resources that you have available to you and take care of them."

"They utilize many contractors and don't hire on many full time personnel."

"Consider hiring some of the qualified people that are contractors so they have more of a vested interest in the company as a whole."

"I do not like anything about Remington College any longer. We are going backwards in technology."

"I would not recommend anyone to work for Remington College. You will fit right in if you don't mind bosses micro managing and not interested in personal or professional growth."

"There is absolutely no culture. All departments work in silos and the CEO does not condone socializing. Bosses micromanage."

"Be progressive. Use technology to create efficiencies in business processes. Create a fun and exciting culture."
