Working at Haverty's Furniture in Winter Garden, FL: 4 Employee Reviews

Haverty's Furniture Employee

"Working in the office is stressful listening to numerous complaints daily from customers. Deliveries with broken furniture and no hardware frustrating customers can make for a long stressful day. Mistake working here as it can raise your blood pressure listening to customers complaints nonstop every day. Company ignores the problems and refuses to fix warehouse oversights. High turnover in warehouse and store staffing. Best to avoid working here wasting time when there are better jobs in retail paying more money."

"Avoid this company like the plague. Sales are based on delivered furniture. Too bad there are more bad deliveries than good. Warehouse repairs furniture and sends them out to customers paying for new furniture. Salespeople do not get paid for their sales since manager heavily discounts damaged pieces so customer keeps them. Cleaning our warehouse from all the cheap Make in China fake leather and cheap particle board furniture."

"Havertys was once a reputable company selling quality products to their customers. The company lacks honest and ethical sales practices and has difficulty delivering quality furniture. Few if any opportunities for advancement. All income is commission based relying on the successful delivery of products. Lots of low-quality items made in China, Vietnam, and USA. poor deliveries leading to lots of cancellations, all commission lost on cancellations. Company interest in its investors outweighs their concern for employee retainment or customer satisfaction. Havertys does not value hardworking employees. Few to none advancement opportunities. All Employees are considered expendable and easily replaced with inexperienced new hires. Unusually high turnovers at many locations within the company with sales floor having more salespeople than needed to earn a decent salary."

"Commission pay changes yearly making it harder to earn the same amount or improve income. There are too many salespeople on the floor and the ability to earn a decent paycheck is highly impacted. Combine that with unsuccessful deliveries and customer cancellations income can go from $33k to $24k. It is harder to hit unattainable required sales quotas and bonuses every month. Assistant managers also sell causing a conflict of interest on occasion. Delivery damage issues causing unhappy customers to cancel their orders. Dishonest salespeople on the sales floor causing conflicts and disharmony. Havertys refuses to change their procedures or sales strategies to be more competitive to stay in tune with current market trends."
