Guardian Industries was founded in 1932 as a small automobile windshield fabricating company. After overcoming early financial struggles, Guardian has grown to become a global leader in the manufacture and sale of glass products, auto parts, and building materials.

Guardian has a workforce of approximately 19,000 employees in over 20 countries worldwide. The corporate headquarters and primary manufacturing plant is located in Auburn Hills, Michigan. In addition to approximately 100 distribution centers and offices in the United States, Guardian operates facilities in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East.

In 2004, Guardian Industries expanded its operations with the opening of a specialty glass coating manufacturing facility and research center in Luxembourg. Products designed and manufactured in the Luxembourg facility include fabricated glass and exterior components used in the automotive industry. Guardian Industries has recently embarked on the manufacture of float glass, which is used in modern windows and skylights.
