"It is very lonely at time to be a financial advisor. You are running your own business and a bad month can really take it's toll on you."

"I would be more hands on. I would be here more often."

"The overhead is low and so is the pay scale in proportion."
What don't you like about working at Variable Annuity Life Insurance Co.?
"commissions were reduced, many products are not commission paid, difficult to make an average living. Main thrust is rollovers and very specific types. poor commissions on life insurance sales."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Be accessible to financial advisors. Increase the commissions or create a job with salary for doing service work that has no sales commission to compensate for time devoted to service work."

"The company is too large, which can make it difficult to be heard."

"The company needs to have in place a better system to have concerns voiced and heard."

"Do it for salary and benefits, but have another job in 10 months or less."

"I like the opportunity to create your own business, any way you'd like."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Take the salary (they will pay you to study for exams) but start interviewing for your next opportunity the day you go into production. Whether they like you or not, you will be fired before you make it to the end of the program, but not before you've been pressured to bring in all of your friends and family assets."
What don't you like about working at Morgan Stanley?
"There is very little support, particularly from middle to upper management. They hire a lot of advisors, throw them against the wall, and hope that 2 out of 100 stick. There is very little support, career development, or loyalty."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Throw away the score cards. Hire less people, hire smart people, and stick with them."
