"One of the worst experiences of my life!!"

"Financial Advisors made your own schedules and worked your own hours."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Please do not waste you time listening to the false promises spewed by this company. It is not worth it. Once you're there, you're stuck there!!"

What don't you like about working at GLP & Associates?

"One of the most unethical firms that I have ever worked for. Management lies to their clients as well as their employees. Your clients are given to other agents to work. They lie to their prospective employees about how much you will earn. They will cheat you out of your commissions with unreasonable explanations. Job requirement is to sign a 3 year non-compete agreement. So once you realize how horrible the company is you are prevented from moving to anot firm. There is no regard for customer service. Its all about how much can they take from you - not about how can we make our sales team successful!!"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I will not make any suggestions to management because they won't take the criticism and actually change to make it a better working environment."

Financial Advisor at Edward Jones

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"It all depends on your region."

What do you like about working at Edward Jones?

"Ed Jones is different than any other brokerage firm, you can be successful if you build the right relationships. Many of the employees are very helpful if you reach out to them. You can have your own office. Great job if you are retired and want to work at your own pace or anyone with another check coming in."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You have to be personable, FAs are outgoing and like meeting new people. Don't try and use fancy words and be smart just talk to them like they are your friends and if you meet someone who works there get a referral and you have 95% better chance of getting the job. Oh, its a 2month hiring process."

What don't you like about working at Edward Jones?

"The business model is stone age, I see how it works in small towns. In bigger cities the competition has more to offer. They hire people with no experience typically, if you work there you will never meet someone that transferred from a prestigious firm, they hire teachers, car salesmen, people from outside the industry. Payouts are low and you never have a book of business, its all theirs. They cheat on the best place to work annual reporting which is why they are always on top of the list. They pre screen whats going to be said to see if you can participate and only successful people from the firm are invited, not random by any means. The 401k has no match, medical benefits are a joke. Pay is the lowest in the industry. You have a week of training after exams and you are on your own always calling st louis home office when you need help, trainers are not paid extra and often tell you they are busy, you feel bad in front of clients when you dont have an answer and call to get support for things you were not trained in and they say its just in time training ( what a joke). Most people work from home and try do appointments at coffee shops or clients house. Lastly, if you are analytical and like looking at stocks or watching the market, this is not the job for you. They will tell you that you are only an asset gatherer, you sell mutual funds only for long term, no such thing as buy low sell high. You are a salesman at jones not a broker."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Have accountability for new hires working from home, everyone should work out of another FAs office so you know they are improving and getting the job done. Hire people with talent, older people with money are not going to give there retirement money to a 21 year old graduate with a babyface and no life experience 9 out of 10 times and you guys know the stats, why waste so much money hiring and training people who are obviously bound to fail."

Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch
in San Antonio, TX

What do you like about working at Merrill Lynch?

"I like the focus on the potential to make your own success."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"When they say that it is up to you to make your own success, they are understating it! Don't expect for things to be explained to you, or for someone to tell you what you should be doing at any given time. You have to actively seek answers all the time and keep asking all those around you. Ultimately, the company doesn't really care if you succeed or fail - if you bring in one client, you've pretty much paid back the cost of your training, so the only person invested in your success is you."

What don't you like about working at Merrill Lynch?

"I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. Ever. And nobody seems to care."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"There needs to be a much greater focus on preparing new hires for the career and less of a 'They'll figure it out' mentality."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

What don't you like about working at Wells Fargo?

"Being a financial advisor, it is my own responsibility to build my book of business, which I believe is best done with a healthy level of micromanagement. Wells Fargo Advisors, and more specifically my manager, doesn't do a great job of making sure their advisors are doing what they need to be doing and holding them to a certain standard via accountability."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would make sure to invest the required amount of time and effort into my trainees so that they would have the best chances of succeeding. I would make sure that their voices were heard and that they felt comfortable approaching me at any moment. I would keep expectations high but would offer rewards for those expectations being met. I would make it a team environment too."
