"I've worked at this company for about a year and a half. So far the people I have had the privilege of working with have been incredibly helpful and supportive. The position itself was steady and secure. It was overall a positive experience."

What do you like about working at Department of Corrections?

"interacting with inmates on a daily basis, talking with them about their plans for life after incarceration. Leading worship services where personal expression was encouraged. Speaking with family members of inmates to find out what their needs were. Conducting tele-conferences with inmates and family members. Planning and implementing special days inside the facility, i.e. Hispanic Heritage Day, Voluteer Recognition Day, etc."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be honest about everything you say, especially background information that can easily be checkout. Have a heart to deal with people where you meet them, without prejudice."

What don't you like about working at Department of Corrections?

"As you might imagine working in a correctional facility could be daunting some days because of the interaction with people who have committed the most henious crimes. Having to inform inmates of family deaths and/or illness, and vice versa was not an especially happy time. Otherwise I always tried to look for the best in each situation."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Encourage those workers who might not have been as forward thinking to join the rest of us."
