Cvent, Inc., headquartered in McLean, Virginia, was established in 1999 as a software service company specializing in event planning and meeting management technology. The company has developed software programs and systems to assist event planners and corporations in all aspects of event management including venue selection, online registration, electronic fee processing and marketing.

During its first year in operation, Cvent received approximately $17 million in venture capital funding. Following the decline of the dot-com industry in 2001, they were facing financial difficulty and reduced its workforce by approximately 80 percent. Cvent regained market strength and became profitable in 2003 through innovative software development and the establishment of a solid client base.

In July 2011, Cvent obtained additional venture capital funding of approximately $130 million, which skyrocketed the company to international success. The company currently employs approximately 900 individuals worldwide and serves a client base of approximately 7,500 organizations.

Cvent has developed unique software systems encompassing event management, web survey solutions, supplier networks and strategic meetings management. The event management program was developed to assist event planners in creating online events and seminars. The system sends invitations to prospective attendees and processes registration fees. The web survey system was developed as an effective tool to target specific markets outside the event planning industry, providing professional services such as survey data analyses.

The supplier network, launched in 2006 as an online event venue directory, was designed to connect event planning coordinators with available venue locations worldwide. The strategic meetings management program includes tools for developing budget analyses and detailed financial reports.

Cvent careers offer competitive salaries, annual bonuses and excellent advancement opportunities. Individuals employed as web designers, product development engineers, technical support engineers and systems analysts have unlimited opportunities for career advancement, international travel and promotion to executive positions. Working at Cvent allows all employees to gain experience and knowledge in the software industry, leading to careers including sales, marketing and consulting.

Cvent benefits are among the best in the software design industry. Health insurance packages include medical, dental and vision coverage. Disability, life insurance and flexible spending accounts are provided, as well as a matching 401(k) retirement plan and company stock purchase programs. Cvent has established mentoring programs and training seminars designed to assist employees in targeting and achieving individual career goals. Additional benefits include tuition reimbursement, health club membership and opportunities for international travel or relocation.

The Cvent culture is based on innovation, imagination and collaboration among employees. American Business Awards named the company’s leadership personnel as the “2010 Management Team of the Year.” Cvent has been recognized by The Washington Business Journal as one of the “Best Places to Work” for three consecutive years, beginning in 2009.
