Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Outside of sales and other exotic positions, you probably can't err to the side of being too conservative in business - when in doubt, be more held back than you may otherwise be (eg don't tell them they should leverage up)."
What don't you like about working at Bertelsmann?
"excellent second level financial managers are working under sometimes not so competent CEO/CFOs (basically, too often these are highflying PhD's with minimal true experience in the business); sometimes too convinced of superiority of German management style (which, in reality, may sometimes be slow and stolid)(and I am German, I should note)"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Be more open to support the advancement for non-PhDs, especially in Financial line positions - look at objective (financial etc) numbers before assuming the German way is better."

"Very exciting place with a great deal of opportunity to offer creative and technical input."

"Interview in great length with any senior management that you may report too. There are some managers at the senior level that are extremely competent and with good character worth working for."
What don't you like about working at World Avenue?
"Very high turn over within senior management. After the COO and CFO left and were replaced by a new president who brought in his own CFO and Controller it lost it's appeal to work there."

"Senior management should work well together as did the managers at the director and operations level."

"They were an exciting, visionary firm with a broad base throughout the country"

"Unfortunately, they relied on a single lender and the failure of that lender was devestating"

"Management was very good. No one could have seen what would happen to real estate values."

"Don't go there unless you want to work in a place that has no substance, ethics, or morals"

"The owner and second in charge are the most immoral an unethical individuals I have ever worked with. They have no desire other than to screw their employees and the customers who depend on their expertise in fixing their car. I never worked for them again, nor would I ever refer customers to them."

"If your foundation is faulty, then the rest of the structure will be as well. Giving them suggestions is like training thieves and robbers on how to improve their trade."

"Many different financial exercises-all the std. ones SEC, budget, computer install but, also acquistions, divestitures and goodwill valuations."
