Working at Columbia Distributing in Portland, OR: 1 Employee Reviews

Columbia Distributing Employee

"Good company to get experience from, long hours and you work until all your assigned accounts are finished. This is not a 9-5 job, work hard and fast and hopefully be done in 8 hours. Columbia has the biggest variety of products as far as I know, beer, N/As, wine, and even chips. Wages are decent but not competitive with other companies, not surprising that they have a high turnover rate. They will basically hire anyone to merchandise, as I have worked with so many people that have 0 experience and 0 ambition to learn or even try to do their best. Not sure what all these people put on their application and resume but they lied themselves into a job. I find myself entering accounts before the rest of my team and volunteering several hours each week because I would be the one doing all the work either way, so why be doing with my teammates as an audience. But then again they are usually busy texting or gone off somewhere in the store "checking on something" unsupervised. It's not all Columbia's fault though, it just seems nobody this day and age is willing to work and would rather live off of financial aids. Better starting wages for the merchandisers in general and raises for those that do more than their fair share could fix so many of the low level problems."
