Chrysler Careers & Info

Current CEO: Christine Feuell

The Chrysler Group, LLC was organized as the Chrysler Corporation in 1925 in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The company was founded by Walter Chrysler in 1925. When the Maxwell Motor Company over-produced during the post WWI depression in 1920 and found itself in too much debt to continue, Walter Chrysler was hired to help get the company back on track. Chrysler soon took over controlling interest. By 1924, he had launched the Chrysler automobile. It was a six-cylinder car, well-engineered, and very affordable. The first Chrysler had a carburetor air filter, high compression engine, full pressure lubrication and oil filter. It also had four-wheel hydraulic brakes, rubber engine mounts to reduce engine vibration, and a raised rim. The new Chrysler was a great success. Walter Chrysler became president of the Maxwell Company, the company was incorporated under the new Chrysler name, and by 1925, Walter Chrysler formed his own company.

The next few years for Chrysler saw the introduction of the Imperial, which was introduced in 1926 and would later undergo changes which included new body styles, V8 engines and automatic transmissions. This was a break-through for Chrysler as these changes and other technologies would filter down to the other models. Innovation is part of the Chrysler culture.

Another advancement that brought more success to the company was the addition of Mopar, the motor parts and service arm of Chrysler. Mopar continues today as a reputable service company and has earned the right to be used to describe any of the Chrysler vehicles. Working at Chrysler Group in the Mopar department means offering the best quality and the best service.

The opportunities of the Chrysler careers indicate that Chrysler’s success from the early 1920s until today continues to grow and continues to keep this a viable company. In 2009, Chrysler emerged from a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization in which all of its operations were sold to a new company, which is now called the Chrysler Group. As recently as May of 2011, Chrysler Group, because of careful and successful planning, production and marketing, was able to repay all of its loans and now continues to be a thriving force for good in the automobile industry today. The company continues to be a stable company, offering great Chrysler Group benefits.
