"The best part was the people I work with. I had a lot of intelligent, fun, hard working people to both work with and learn from. The senior people were very knowledgeable and helpful."

"Focus more on your overall knowledge and what you do know not what you don't know. They really look for people who can learn and grow, not just someone who has all the skills in the resume already."

What don't you like about working at CGI?

"My last project was 80% travel , traveling Mon. - Thurs. That made it difficult to have a life."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Put more effort into retaining talent, especially younger talent."

"The work schedule was very flexible. We were allowed to work around our personal life so long as one didn't adversely affect the other. Also, they have a very competitive compensation package."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Make sure that you're comfortable with the following things: ambiguity, learning on your own, extensive travel and one's communications should be above average at the very least."

What don't you like about working at CGI?

"There are few bad things I can say about CGI. My only regret is not being able to stay."

"The management, as far as I have seen did a wonderful job of both keeping me informed and ensuring quality control."

"It was a lax place, people were friendly - you aren't worried with the short term when you have along term secured contract"

"Database work is boring and tedious - there was no real room for growth"

"Modernize - I hated being stuck with antiquated technology because someone bought a license way back when"

"Little control over assignments makes it difficult to learn new skills."

"Cross train employees, and allow them to switch projects to gain varied experiences."

"It was good to work with a company like CGI Federal. The only thing is you (as employee) have to find a project for yourself to continue and go to next step."

"I've worked at CGI Federal since the acquisition of Stanley Associates, starting with Stanley four years before the acquisition. The feel for working in a component of a much larger company (from a 5,000 company to a 70,000 person company) is very different. I enjoyed working in the mid-sized company environment like Stanley where we were more able to know others in the company and had greater access to senior management. Within CGI Federal, we really don't have access to senior management."

"I've worked with CGI Federal since October 2001 and have worked on-site with the same federal customer throughout my tenure. I work almost exclusively at the customer's site and have minimal interaction with CGI Federal outside of corporate e-mails and annual Director / VP / HR visits. No major complaints. Upward mobility appears to be difficult at times, but the company does try to ensure competitive salary & benefits which are on-par with many of my federal colleagues' compensation packages. Given my seniority on my contract, I work with minimal supervision --- routinely checking in with customer and management, but not micromanaged."
