1.7 do others jobs, do unsafe repairs, leads pass defects to get cars out, glue is CarMax friend. install junk yard parts even if they have been in accident, leads have favorites and will throw other under the bus if you stand up to their bullying, managers lie and have favorites, you cannot work their if you have a DUI but if your a favorite of managers they will let you stay, they order used carpets and if they do not match the same color they have paint department paint it black, a lot of repair lines are canceled cause techs not want to do the work, lube techs do not change oil filters on some cars cause they are scared, majority of the cars have bent wheels but leads will say balance and move path, if you go to management with issues they pretend to care but do nothing, carmax pays the lowest to their techs in the industry, they glue boots on suspension parts instead of replacing at times. if tire has side wall damage leads tell techs to turn it inside out, wheel repairs are done very bad, often leads will tell tech to move path and if customer notices they will bring it back to let retail deal with it, managers will judge employees all the time. saw manager cut a wrong seat frame and drill holes to make it fit on current seat. air bag wiring is repaired, your told to replace one brake rotor and resurface the other to save money, i been told to shave down brake pads to make it fit in caliper by leads, managers see damage and say its fine specially if its Friday, for over 12 years and every year was do more and do more bad repairs,

3.4 Covered parking, nice facility, some good managers, many awesome and helpful co-workers.. Great place to work if you enjoy being micromanaged and you thrive in a stressful environment for little more than minimum wage. Many incompetent and lazy managers, extreme micro-management every minute you're there, many processes need to be better streamlined, too many "Chiefs" and not enough "Indians", high employee turnover, bonus is hard to get each month because the matrix changes as to what is expected of an associate. My training class started with 30 people. Less than two months later, only six were still there. Very poor training; learned most everything once I was on the call floor. My advice to the company? Hire managers that can lead and know how to train and handle people rather than bringing in those who did well at the retail store level and then bringing them into a call center environment. Don't continue to ask associates to do more work and complete more tasks in the same amount of time and then use the reduced productivity to chip away at potential bonuses. Many managers were unsure of how to answer basic questions that would come up daily, and many seemed uncomfortable with that and made themselves scarce, making it nearly impossible to find a manager when one was needed.

2.7 Cons: Low pay, There are too many write-ups for small errors and many unnecessary changes like an iconic resolution model (we already do this process at work). The training is useless and outdated and most of it is no longer feasible. There are no career advancement opportunities. There are unfulfilled promises, such as career advancement and fairness. Sales consultants are rude to business office associates and usually, nothing is done about it. There is a large pay gap between other departments and sales consultants, and too many people that you have to answer too such as sales managers, business office managers, lead business office associates and location general manager. The job can be quite stressful because of sales goals and busy seasons like tax return season. They will often not allow you to take a break or expect you to cut your break short. The customer-centric atmosphere is unrealistic. They expect you to get everything right the first time and if you make a mistake (no matter how small or large) you will get written up for it.

CarMax is a used car retailer that is based in Richmond, Virginia. Founders Rick Sharp and Austin Logan set out to better meet the needs of an under-served consumer: the used car buyer. In September of 1993, the first superstore was opened in Richmond, with about 500 cars in the inventory. A used 1993 Jeep Cherokee was the first vehicle sold. A second superstore, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, was opened a year later in November 1994, with two more superstores opened in Atlanta, Georgia the following year. Since then, one hundred locations have been opened across the country, with total sales surpassing two million vehicles.
