"Love to help achieve my goals. I don't hate any job I work in it, always looking forward."
What do you like about working at Hy-Vee?
"I like helping each individual customer. I like being able to see my efforts in merchandising reflected in the weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports. I like most of the people I work with."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Retail experience helps. Being able to follow simple instructions is necessary. Quick thinking and friendliness are important."
What don't you like about working at Hy-Vee?
"It doesn't feel like a dream job to me. I also don't like working with such a large range of ages. For example, the baggers and checkers up front are as young as 15, and my boss is over 50. I am 22 and it is difficult to form a solid team throughout the store with so many different ages. I also dislike doing practically the exact same thing every week. I sometimes feel that I'm not doing something significant enough or important enough."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"More attention to detail, improve appearance of department and product placement, care more about the department."
What do you like about working at Nordstrom?
"I like having total control of the customer experience and making it happen correctly. I enjoy the chance to reach out and make their experience better than they expected."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Study: know your product, know your customers, know your duties, and perform them daily."
What don't you like about working at Nordstrom?
"I dislike undefined job duties: a list is created for the team, but not all the team will perform at the same level."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"There needs to be better acknowledgement to the workhorses of the team, and a better metric to 'success'."

"Menards offered the manager trainee program as well as 'at home training' opportunities."

"You will have to work hard, long hours, and often on holidays and weekends."

"The nature of retail can sometimes include very negative customers who do not think very highly of the retail workers."

"Management was encouraging and offered me advancement opportunities. I was happy with Menard's management."
