"Its a great company, but sometimes its leadership structure is a bit outdated."
"I would not recommend this company at all. Terrible management. Terrible pay starting at minimum wage. I worked for the company for about 8 months and hadn’t gotten a single raise/promotion. The people I worked with were decently nice but the managers were absolutely ignorant. Only a few out of the 5 or so managers were nice. I originally was hired for Courtesy Clerk and Cashier. The managers don’t care what job title you have, they will push you around like you are a rat to them. My hours were constantly lowered due to the company continuously hiring new people even when we didn’t need them. HyVee would rather take a new employee that doesn’t know how to do anything rather than an employee that can do everything efficiently. 9/10 times I would ask for help and not receive any."
"Accomplished and diverse real estate professional with over 17 years’ experience with a wide array of disciplines including asset management, property and facilities management, vendor management, contract/vendor negotiations, creative problem solving and developing/implementing business processes and budgets while achieving excellence in customer service. • Strategic Planner • Leadership Management • Logical thoughtful decision maker • Thoughtful problem solver • Detailed-oriented • Multi-Site Locations • Strong communications • Challenge Driven"
"The company is a good place for a young person to get a job to make money while they are growing up and can teach them good people skills but is very repetitive and does not give them the skills needed to gain a job in most fields afterwards."
"I don't want to review this company. So I will leave average ratings."
"Good company with good benefits and managers. Very friendly staff felt like a family."
"Retail is not for everyone."
"Great company, Wholesome atmosphere!"
"The management is pretty lacking most times and almost all the departments bicker between each other. Scheduling availability is ignored on a pretty regular basis."
"I have worked for Hy-Vee for several years. They put an emphasis on building a friendly work environment and pay nearly a living wage, even for the most junior of employees. I would recommend working here if you are looking for a grocery or kitchen job."
"Very good company! I feel sad that I have to leave but I want to improve my career."
"I am currently working here part-time before moving with my family to Laguna Woods, California."
"I've been with Hy-Vee since 2011. I started part time, to full time 2nd assistant manager, to assistant manager, now backroom manager. There is plenty of opportunity to move up or find your niche. Autonomy seems to be getting taken away slowly with mandatory displays, corporate dress code, forced buys, and even store layout now complete with pallet drops. It's still a great company that does take care of their employees."
"Great place to work at when you are a high school student."
"I've been working for Hy-Vee for 6 years (2 as a full-time night stocker). The pay is decent for retail, though the job is physically demanding. Also, it seems that, unless you are "buddies" with management, advancement opportunities are extremely limited. This is especially true for night stockers, as we are among the least visible employees in the store. Overall, for what it is, it's a pretty decent job."
