"Successful Aflac candidates should be young, knowledgeable, articulate, and possess a Bachelors degree with a minimum of one years' professional experience. A successful interview would be one in which a thorough knowledge of core competencies is displayed complimented by a professional, friendly demeanor that is appropriate for a corporate environment."

What don't you like about working at Aflac?

"Aflac--like many other large corporations--has a slow and difficult to navigate vertical communication structure. The result is that requests made to higher ranking colleagues can be slow and difficult to process which can negatively impact work speed and flow."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Aflac management should strengthen its lateral communication and approval structure so that requests can be approved by colleagues closer to and able to more quickly respond to pending communiques."

"The founder would come out to speak with the employees."

"Be honest and tell them anything they wish to know."

"That I knew more than my new supervisor about job."

"Properly train supervisor so that they can know new department."

"The capability to earn unlimited income. Also, the team was very supportive and great training."

"Be open and truthful about your goals so they can guide you on how to accomplish that. Don't be afraid to ask questions, they will answer them for you."

"There was nothing that I didn't like at the company."

"I would suggest they continue to hold their weekly meetings. There is a lot of great information that is dispensed, and you can learn a lot from the veteran agents."

"Be forewarned that it is not as easy as it sounds to earn commissions."

"No base salary, completely dependent on commissions. This is not an ideal situation for me."

"Have a more active role in helping agents find contacts."

"I do not like the commission only. I need a quaranteed income."

"I do not have any suggestions. I believe Aflac is a great company."

"Make your own hours. High pay. Location. People I work with. Meeting new clients."

"That it is quite difficult to start, and it is a lot harder than they tell you it is."

"That it's hard to make sales, other people steal your sales. Saturated market."

"I wouldn't change anything, as they have been succesful for many years."

"The work is hard and the support at times is non-existent."

"The lack of support from the company to get your business up and running."

"Provide a better set up of territories so agents do not over run an area."

"The level of independence I had. It was as if I had my own company within a company."

"You must enjoy prospecting, meeting people and networking. This is a Hunter sales job."

"The potential of charge-backs is very real. In a down economy, it can and has added a great degree of stress."

"Re-think the compensation arrangement to add a degree of certainty of pay."

"Company had training but you had to pay for some of it as a condition of employment. The marketing department did a good job of creating presentation packages."

"Wear a white dress shirt and a tie if you are a man. I walked in the office on a lot of interviews--they pretty much hire anyone and everyone who can pass a criminal background check and pass a life/health exam."

"Straight commission with no account provided. You had to purchase everything you need to work. The company provided nothing. Very few agents are be seen as management material."

"Build a better support network. Give a more accurate picture of what working an outside straight commission job is like."

"There were many opportunities to make money within the company."

"You can get in this company with very little experience and education."

"I did not like that you were forced to compete with your own coworkers."

"Work hard and help those that are just starting out."

"I like flexible work hours. I get to choose my own hours."

"Be honest. Ask about the rate of turnover. Ask how many hours people work each week."

"Compensation is commission only. People are expected to work on weekends."

"I would reconsider how people are compensated. I would also look into how paperwork gets lost."

"Need to be a self starter and have a home office! Also, knowing a lot of people/business owners around the area helps, otherwise I hope you like cold calling and knocking on doors."

"That it is an independent contract position and that I work from home. I prefer more structure and having a place to organize my workload besides my kitchen table."

"I wish they were more strict. That they gave you more of an idea what to do other than just letting you go out there on your own."

"This was a new area for me. What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to learn."

"Just be honest during the interview. This is a contract position. Let them know what you need up front for development and growth."

"Field support was fairly weak. The turnover of field team leads made it hard to receive proper training."

"Establish a trainer for the respective sales area to support new sales associates."

"Realize the business your getting in. This is the hardest form of sales. Selling product that you'll never see."

"Poor local support. As a new agent the local management turned me out with very little support and training."

"Estasblish a much more agressive training program. The money you spent will come back."
