"Successful Aflac candidates should be young, knowledgeable, articulate, and possess a Bachelors degree with a minimum of one years' professional experience. A successful interview would be one in which a thorough knowledge of core competencies is displayed complimented by a professional, friendly demeanor that is appropriate for a corporate environment."
What don't you like about working at Aflac?
"Aflac--like many other large corporations--has a slow and difficult to navigate vertical communication structure. The result is that requests made to higher ranking colleagues can be slow and difficult to process which can negatively impact work speed and flow."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Aflac management should strengthen its lateral communication and approval structure so that requests can be approved by colleagues closer to and able to more quickly respond to pending communiques."

"The founder would come out to speak with the employees."

"That I knew more than my new supervisor about job."

"I would suggest they continue to hold their weekly meetings. There is a lot of great information that is dispensed, and you can learn a lot from the veteran agents."

"The potential of charge-backs is very real. In a down economy, it can and has added a great degree of stress."

"Re-think the compensation arrangement to add a degree of certainty of pay."

"Company had training but you had to pay for some of it as a condition of employment. The marketing department did a good job of creating presentation packages."

"Wear a white dress shirt and a tie if you are a man. I walked in the office on a lot of interviews--they pretty much hire anyone and everyone who can pass a criminal background check and pass a life/health exam."

"Straight commission with no account provided. You had to purchase everything you need to work. The company provided nothing. Very few agents are be seen as management material."

"Build a better support network. Give a more accurate picture of what working an outside straight commission job is like."

"I would reconsider how people are compensated. I would also look into how paperwork gets lost."

"Need to be a self starter and have a home office! Also, knowing a lot of people/business owners around the area helps, otherwise I hope you like cold calling and knocking on doors."

"That it is an independent contract position and that I work from home. I prefer more structure and having a place to organize my workload besides my kitchen table."

"I wish they were more strict. That they gave you more of an idea what to do other than just letting you go out there on your own."

"Just be honest during the interview. This is a contract position. Let them know what you need up front for development and growth."

"Field support was fairly weak. The turnover of field team leads made it hard to receive proper training."

"Establish a trainer for the respective sales area to support new sales associates."
