"Lack of accountability with upper management. Lots of people who should not be in their positions as they don't have the experience."

"A powerhouse company with an instantly recognizable and well loved brand. Exceptionally well made products. Unfortunately, over the years, it has become a colder environment to work in, primarily due to HR policies. Like all large companies, it takes longer to respond to the market. but when it does, it is typically a dominant player for market share. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yamaha Japan. The President typically is rotated out every 2-4 years and is currently, for the first time, an Anglo-American rather than an Japanese national."

"The company was great to work for before the Great Obama Recession. The cuts and moves of departments took its toll on morale and the expectation of a job well done. Doing great work was replaced with doing just enough. As department budgets were cut so were employees and tools. Sometimes employees were cut for less than admirable reasons while saving friends and family that were incompetent in the jobs."

"I have worked for Yamaha Corporation of America for 7 years. My direct team (in IT division) is one of the best teams I have worked with and I have nothing but the utmost respect for my supervisor (Director of IT).The work force in general is quite long in the tooth and adapts poorly to change, especially in the area of IT. Upper management appears to be ignorant of this. Highly political atmosphere, many upper-middle and upper management do not posses actual skills required to be effective.Over all it is an average place to work and wouldn't try and convince anyone not to seek opportunity there."
