Wescom Credit Union Overview

Wescom Credit Union is a Southern California credit union serving 212,000 members, one of the largest credit union memberships in the nation. Based in Pasadena, California, the not-for-profit cooperative offers banking, loan and member discounts to residents of Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange, Santa Barbara, Ventura, San Diego and San Bernardino counties. The credit union operates 29 branches, both as standalone offices and as satellite centers in local stores. Members have surcharge-free access to 30,000 automated teller machines throughout the U.S.

The credit union began with just $65 in 1934, the dream of 13 local Pacific Telephone workers who sought an alternative to official banks. Created as Telephone Employees Credit Union, the institution experienced several significant growth phases, eventually opening up to residents and workers of several Southern California counties. The name was changed to Wescom Credit Union in 1996. Currently, the company has assets of nearly $2.5 billion.
