What don't you like about working at Verizon Communications?
"First, I hate being in attics. I was in an attic almost every day. If you live in Texas, you know what kind of misery that is in the summer when it's 102 degrees outside. You're constantly in the elements as a field tech. It doesn't matter what kind of weather, as the only thing the managers care about are numbers. You were expected to meet a certain quota each month. And, you were expected to sell more products and services while you were in the customer's house. I'm not a salesperson - I was a tech. And lastly, we had no support. If you needed tools, drill bits, or the simplest of items, you couldn't get them. They were always on order. I was there for almost five years and hated almost five years of it."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Stop using your front-line people like pack mules. They are the ones keeping you employed. They deserve better. I know that this review will never reach anyone of any sort of importance at Verizon, and that's too bad. Verizon could be a great place to work. Unfortunately I was in a bad department with no way to move up or advance."
"I liked this job, but there wasn't a full-time opening."
