What do you like about working at Verizon Wireless?

"I worked for MCI, and Verizon Business acquired us several years ago. Verizon has more of a LEC mentality, and other than the excellent benefits, I really didn't find their culture and structure appealing."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It largely depends upon in what area of the company they are potentially going to work as it is a very large organization. If it were for a position in sales/service, I would advise they drill down to specifics as to what account(s) they would be assigned, support provided, etc."

What don't you like about working at Verizon Wireless?

"I dislike instability - there are sweeping changes taking place with their service model and no one feels secure. They created a new position last year (service program manager) and already, some of them have been laid off. They are opting for a fee for service philosophy, which for very large enterprise accounts, is likely to be unpalatable."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I felt that Verizon really didn't understand the specific needs of large enterprise accounts. MCI had excelled in customer service, but Verizon is in the process of changing the whole service model (offshoring, etc.) and it's going to be at the customer's expense."
