"I was intern for the APHIS office at the USDA in 2012. It was my first government office environment job. It was fun to get to know the other workers while I was there, and all of the supervisors in APHIS were wonderful people who strived hard to handle the issues presented to them. It was a very inspirational time and I was changed for the better in terms of work ethic and quality."

"Be honest and open about your background and experience. Don't say you are willing to relocate if you will need months to get your affairs in order."

What don't you like about working at United States Department of Agriculture?

"State government is constantly getting hammered by the press as well as the perception that the legislature does not appreciate the work we do."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Be open and trusting with your staff. Most people want to do a good job and don't need to be micrmanaged."
