"I have worked for the University of Pennsylvania since 2007. Overall, I have enjoyed my employment here, and have found the research that I am involved in to be meaningful. It has been a good place to work, and I was able to complete a master's degree. Unfortunately, staff are not appreciated as much as professors - even though staff are just as required for professors to complete their job."

"The things I like most about UPENN are the benefits, colleagues, location, atmosphere, security."

"Be sure that this position is something that fits with your career plans, both short-term and long-term. People in my position are also slightly handcuffed in terms of system access and autonomy, limiting how effective and helpful we can be. There are also lots of office quibbles that lead to gossiping, tattling, and general divisiveness. Also, too many people have low morale. It's insidious!"

"Implement new service initiatives to ensure all assistant directors are providing utmost counsel. I would restructure the department to cross-train employees in order to eliminate redundant middle management positions. I would also create a better on-line presence for student financial services."
