"My boss was embarrassingly inefficient in regards to organization and communication. I believe she had severe OCD, which made it very hard to please her in my personal style of organizing."

"The management needs to e-mail back on time and not ask ridiculous personal favors that don't pertain to your job description."

"I enjoyed the autonomy given to me by my advisor and the responsibility to complete a variety of tasks."

"UMass Lowell is a great place for anyone looking to conduct cutting-edge research, especially in the field of composites and finite element modeling."

"Obviously, as a student, the pay could always be better."

"My management team consisted of professors who were all excellent in my several years at UMass Lowell."

"Find a advisor that will not just give verbal praise but also help with getting you some perks for doing a great job."

"The graduate student salary and benefits were really low. Need a job with real salary."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Not sure about the CEO but the chancellor of the university could have done more for research than getting the poor football team in MAC."

"I went here as an undergraduate, so I enjoy being on campus, but I really don't like my job."

"Not all of the jobs are like this, but mine isn't particuarly great!"

What don't you like about working at University of Massachusetts?

"I often feel like I don't 100% understand what I'm doing and that is particularly stressful when my boss asks me about something I've done and we attempt to troubleshoot what went wrong. The other people in the lab have had a lot more extensive training and background education in the subject matter and take for granted that I must know the same things that they do, but I don't."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would have a more effective training program so that people would feel more confident and comfortable working on their own early on."

"Honestly, I only worked at U-mass as peer adviser with out pay."

"The interest the staff demonstrates in helping students fulfill their needs."

"Listen to the student views, before decision making that affects them."

"It offered the opportunity to take ownership of many of the subjects I just recently studied obtaining engineering degree."

"valuable experience in handling multiple tasks will be gained, remember to be fair and prompt in grading."

"It was only a teaching assistant job, to earn stipend for graduate degree."

"A more structured grading scheme would make it simpler, but I realize the importance of having judgement and constant revisement of grading scheme."
