"My biggest recommendation is to do your homework. Also, be up for a challenge. If you are not challenged within your own department you will definitely be challenged during collaborative efforts. Politics, just like any other school, is prominent. Be willing to understand how this affects our work, especially when dealing with students who are extremely smart and demanding."
What don't you like about working at University of Miami?
"I believe the biggest challenge working at the University and moving to MiamI is the fast-paced environment. The culture in MiamI and at UM can be competitive and if you do not have a thick skin or the ability to adapt you will be left behind. The culture of the city is if you can cut it move out of the way."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"At this moment there is not much that I would change. We have one of the best college president's in the nation. Through her leadership we have seen an unprecedented climb within the Princeton Review's top 50 schools in the nation. In the past three years we have climb from 48 to 37 and are now recognized as the top institution in the state of Florida over UF and FSU."
