9 General Managers from Ultimate Electronics submitted salaries.
Ultimate Electronics was a company that operated a chain of electronics stores in several states. The company was founded in 1968 and its headquarters were located in Thornton, Colorado. It sold consumer electronic items such as computers, televisions, sound systems, etc. The company underwent an expansion that started in 2000 and led to Ultimate operating 64 stores all around the nation.
However, this aggressive expansion campaign proved to be the downfall of the company. While they greatly expanded their nationwide presence, they were unable to remain profitable. Ultimate Electronics went bankrupt in 2004, with half of the stores being reacquired by Mark Wattles, the CEO of the company and the remaining half being closed down. The stores purchased by Mark Wattles continued to operate under the Ultimate Electronics name until 2011, when the company went bankrupt again. This time, it was liquidated and ceased operations permanently.
At its peak, the company had over 3,000 employees, working in the company's headquarters and numerous stores around the nation. However, as the chain has been completely liquidated and is defunct, all of the employees lost their jobs. Many of those with electronics and retail management experience moved on to find employment with other electronics retailers around the country.
General Manager is the highest paying job at Ultimate Electronics at $79,000 annually.
