Working at Tournament One Corp. in Stamford, CT: 2 Employee Reviews

Game Programmer

"Wanted me for full; I did contract. Didn't get paid. 2 wk proj. went 3 months."

What do you like about working at Tournament One Corp.?

"Interesting programming problems, nice coworkers, mostly quiet atmosphere (besides the incessant beeping), they generally leave you alone and let you concentrate."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Honestly I would avoid this company unless you're really desperate to work in the gaming field. If you're highly skilled, as I am, it may be a waste of time for you. If you do apply, demand that they strike unreasonable things from your contract (like that you have to help them sue people if the request, indemnifying the company) and have them add more assurances such as a limit on how long they can wait around for approvals and not pay you for a project."

What don't you like about working at Tournament One Corp.?

"The unfair contracts, low pay, the CEO, can't put work in portfolio, lots of legal constraints in the industry, I didn't get paid."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"If the CEO stops trying to Win against all his employees, he will get better people to stick around. The #2 guy is great, but he can't make some important decisions or agreements."

Junior Engineer

"Legal agreement (contract) protects the company, and not the employee--no benefits without signing a long-term contract."

What do you like about working at Tournament One Corp.?

"A small, fast-paced environment in which an individual may thrive if the conditions are right."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"There was no programming test required for this company. They valued my being a loyal team player. Make sure you ask ALL questions before signing anything. My trust has been shaken due to their omission of information. Be sure that all answers are clear, explicit, and if necessary, in writing, before signing anything."

What don't you like about working at Tournament One Corp.?

"Terms of employment were misleading--at the start of employment I was told that I would receive benefits after 3 months, with no mention of further contracts. After 3 months, I was told that in order to receive benefits, I needed to sign a 2 year contract. The contract only protected the company, and not the employee.I am underpaid, overworked, and receive no OT or any form of compensation beyond the standard work week hours."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Communication NEEDS to be improved. Be straightforward with potential employees, and less employees will leave after short durations."
