"Upper management should spend more time & money on their current workers rather than finding new ones who do not have experience."

"While Tech Data is viewed as a very well managed company,the way they terated their employees left much to be desired. Bonus payments were often late, and frequently less than what was promised or earned. The corporate culture was great between co-workers, but a disconnect between upper management existed with the sales force."

What do you like about working at Tech Data?

"the aspect I enjoyed most at Tech Data was the freedom to prospect and open new accounts when I had the time to do so. I was able to grow my client base in a short period of time, which in turn led to a excellent referral base."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"I would discourage anyone I knew from working with Tech Data. This may sound harsh, but I feel strongly about the fact that quite often my hands were tied when it came to closing more business and increasing my client base."

What don't you like about working at Tech Data?

"As previously stated, the disconnect between upper management and the sales force was distinct and in most cases obvious. My feelings are that the overall sales revenue for Tech Data would increase tenfold if everyone could be on the same page."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I feel if upper mangement spent more time examing what the sales team was experiencing with their given accounts on a regular basis, the disconnect would be eliminated. Management can not expect to stay abreast of what is occuring within the sales cycle by only meeting once a month for a few minutes."

"none at this time. be careful of RIFs since they had 2 in 6 months."

"no promotion oppy. old equipment and no staff and no room for parts"

"restructure management and hire more maintenance personnel and end contract maintenance"

"Do plenty of research before you commit to a position at Tech Data, the environment is not for the faint hearted. Conservative and very very corporate."

"They move forward very slowly, need to get with the times. Some of the executive members need to embrace new ways to market and allow new techniques to flourish."

"Embrace change, encourage their teams to collaborate and learn to collaborate more frequently with their teams."

"The work environment at Tech Data is good. You're able to laugh and discuss pretty much whatever you want. The compensation is at or below average. The benefits change with the success of the business, which can be inconsistent."

"I worked for Tech Data for about two years, from about June 2016 through May 2018. During the earlier part of my employment, there were no issues; I worked peacefully at my station by myself as a void fill operator without any problems with supervisors or other employees. In early 2018, a woman in her late 20s told me, while on the job, confidential stories about her personal relationship, and that when she was 19, she first became involved in an intimate relationship with her 14-year-old boyfriend. I was quite astonished that somebody would tell me this while at work. When I told other employees and management, one of the managing staff, told me not to dare say anything about it, appearing to defend the woman. At that point forward, Tech Data began building a file, alleging numerous things from being too loud, to damaging equipment. Furthermore, a man in his early 50s was making inappropriate remarks to and coercing an 18-year-old girl who worked there, and, in my personal opinion, believing that was wrong, raised an objection, when he responded to me, rudely and loudly, almost appearing to acknowledge his wrongdoing, “You know what? I don’t like you anymore! Don’t talk to me!”. In May 2018, I was escorted from my workstation to the manager’s office, where I was told that I was terminated, and managers Karen McGrew and Nicole Monette, who were present, made sarcastic remarks, smiled and joked about the matter, and, while smiling, told me that I spit on the equipment, which was untrue, along with other similar allegations. I had applied for unemployment benefits which were initially denied due to Tech Data’s allegations, however, in my appeal, which was successful, and based on these facts, Texas Workforce Commission ruled that I was not at fault. Tech Data was a good company, and there were many nice employees who I enjoyed working with, however, I believe that towards the end of my employment there, I was treated very badly by management."
