"If you can get any job with Sysco, go ahead. It is a great company to work for and has great benefits as well."

What don't you like about working at Sysco Food Service?

"I disliked the fact that there are no holidays observed. You work on holidays as if it were any given day."

"Be fair when it comes down to selecting people to be laid off. For training purposes, they need to work on training skills. I was left alone to learn on my own, and I was supposed to run with a more experienced MA - well, none of that ever happened."

"The management in the Portland house is awful. When I went in to hand in my letter of resignation they finally offered me more money to stay. My DSM was completely in over his head and was the main reason I left. After being called names and demeaned by him I had enough. I will also mention that I was on my way to being double digit growth for the next year."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Don't change anything. I now work for the competitor and quite enjoy the fact that Sysco is viewed the way they are in the Portland market. One suggestion would not help this company."

"When you interview with them, the first interview is with several different managers, and they all ask you the same questions. You need to be specific in your answers, as they compare notes at the end."
