"They enjoy people wanting to take advantage of the earn and learn. Earn and learn is a program that reimburses the employee for attending school."

"Once you set your hours, it's hard to transfer to a different time."

"Good challenge to have to motivate the union workers who work under the supervisors."

"The reduction in hours compared to my past jobs was less than what I was used to working."

"When the vice president of human resources told me that he was not worried about the public perspective of employment with West I became really concerned. some employers around town have stated that that they do not want to hire anyone who has worked for West."

What don't you like about working at United States Steel?
"Being gone for 2/3 of the year or longer. Working for extremely long hours during deployment. Average workday for my rate (job) was 20 hours while underway. Cat naps are essential, after 9/11 I spent 80 hours in my workcenter without seeing my bed."

"I enjoyed the challenge, learned so much from Mr. Scott Tesser in every aspect of the business, and developed many freindships with several other companies, freight forwarders, customs brokers,etc."

"Work was not adequatly appreciated and employees were not compensated as much as they should."

"I have alot of friends that still work there. The pay check was always nice."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Be politically correct. Be smart about answering their questions, don't bad mouth your previous employer. Be drug free, they do random urinalysis's. Plus you have to pass one in order to be hired. Once hired try to keep to yourself and if you have a problem you'll know who can help you and who can't. It wont take long to figure out who the good ones are and who isn't."
What don't you like about working at Walmart?
"People often lie or stretch the truth about their management team in order to get them fired so they can have an opportunity to move up. It is like being in high school all over again. Benefit packages are over priced."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Watch your backs and keep your chins up. The people you trust the most may be the ones trying to get you fired. Do the best that you can and if the GM or AGM doesn't like it......all well....life goes on."
