"Recent uncertanty in the medicare, health care insurance and related legislation has made the work environment very uncertain and has resulted in several rounds of lay-offs."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Be careful of loosing too many long-term employees in the name of cost cutting as they hold the knowledge of processes, tools and other IP."

What do you like about working at St. Jude Medical?

"My current company has a wonderful vision of Findin Cure and Saving Children. The founder said no child should die at dawn. Thus, over the past 50 years, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has cured many sick children without charging its patient a single penny."

"It will be great to have such a working experience at this company. St. Jude offers the best research facility services to scientist. However, one should have a clear goal about what you want to do in 3-4 years."

"Although it is great to work for such a wonderful company, the zoom for my promotion is minimal."

"I could not comment on the overall management of the whold St. Jude. But, I believe the management of top tier is very good."

"Been a highly regulated business by a strong federal agency (FDA), there was little room for state of the art, everything has to be highly over-designed. In other words, excessive documentation for just about everything."

"Making sure the projects that brought in the bacon were addressed with higher priority and improve comm between the overall corporate structure."

"Release of duties to the lead in the department, which was myself. More trust in leads in the department to do their job."

"St. Jude Medical is well diversified, has a good long term plan, and has many competitive advantages. But they have their problems, like any company. Ensure you fully understand the position you are applying for, your manager, and what is expected of you. Burnout is common for many positions."

"The work/ life balance could be improved. Employee moral suffered in recent years due to the economic downturn and need for multiples layoffs."

"Nobody is looking out for you. Play the game, climb the ladder."

"We are required to maintain databases that nobody uses, fill reports that nobody reviews, and otherwise are given work that unnecessarily distracts from our main goal."

"Stop using bad metrics to measure our employees. More ways to measure us does not mean useful information."
