"I started at Atmel as a production operator at their starting wage which was good for the area that we were in. Within the first year I had developed the trust of my supervisor to run the area when he/she took personal days, before the position of lead operator was conceived. Within a year I was promoted to lead operator. In 2000 I was promoted to Engineering Technician. Eventually, I moved back to production to become a developer of software solutions for mgt and the production floor."

"Overall enjoyable until I hit the glass ceiling. Very mundane."

"Basically if you get an interview you probably have the position, the hardest part of being hired into the federal government is the actual application process"

"no promotional opportunities at all, employees are just a number, all decisions are based upon management approval which leaves no room for independent thinking"

"to make work more enjoyable and fun, not micro-manage so much, allow for growth from within the organization"

"The culture is getting bad. Too many people are trying to find what others are doing wrong and not focusing in doing their job."

"The company treated its employees well. There was a good working enviroment. If you worked hard and were qualified you got considered for advancement."

"Be professional and honest. Make sure you are qualified for position. If available take a lesser position. The position you want or abetter one may open up and they promote from within first."

"There is not much I did ont like about This company. I guess the fact that I got laid off. Thjey did away witrh a lot of the incentives they gave for working hard."

"Go back to the reward plans that were there when I first worked there."

"Most of the people I work with daily are laid-back but culture is uptight and high-stress."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"The manufacturing department seems to be a dead-end. Once you are trained the department is unlikely to allow you to transfer to other departments because replacing technicians takes too much time and effort."

"The only career path available is the managerial path. Skills acquired are very niche and will not likely be transferable."

"Don't have much interaction with CEO. He is present at company meetings only."
