"Jack of all trade is needed. All the following are used daily: CentOS, MySQL, VMWare, Apache, Nginx, Java, Tomcat, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, NFS, Autofs, Puppet, Kickstart, Nagios, Cacti, Shell Script, Amazon Cloud, iSCSI SAN, Load Balancer, Firewall, Router and Switches, Netapp, HP and DELL servers."

"Code deployed to production without much testing. lacks systematic documentation effort."

"It is centrally located. I like my boss, some very good coworkers, and the 9/80 work week."

"Upper management is moronic, six IT departments, no future vision, run by competing funds"

"Try to focus on customer service and not cost cutting. Sooner or later outsourcing/off-shoring will cost you your integrity."

"My coworkers were all that made this job bearable given that it required 24X7 availability and management that was totally disengaged from the work attempting to be done."

"If you are considering interviewing for First Data. My tip would be not to do so. There are companies that will actually treat you like a human being instead of replaceable cog."
What don't you like about working at First Data?
"The lack of respect for the individuals, their skills and hard work to achieve the amount of work as a single individual that other parts of the company had several teams to perform the same task."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I would suggest that management actually listen to the talented people that they have but that suggestion was not heard when I was there and I know it will not be heard now. First Data will continue to bleed talented people for other companies to take and utilizes."
